In an earlier post I mention that John H. and I are leaving for Russia on Thursday.
Saturday Morning at around 9:30 I send an email to the people in Russia we were going to see. Here is a portion of that email:
We were told yesterday (Friday) that John’s passport was not close to ready and the college student who was at the passport office could not pick it up for him.
I am still in disbelief that John could send in for his passport 6 weeks before it was needed, paid the expedited fee and still does not have it. Last year expedited meant 14 days MAX. Now they say 2 to 4 weeks MAX on everything. John called them numerous times and was told “we are working on it and will send it out overnight express”. James A. went to Houston and was able to receive 5 new passports on the same day – so if they were working on it each of those times John called, shouldn’t it be done? One of the people on our Argentina trip received their passport in 16 days; Another friend received herpassport yesterday just two weeks after applying.
Even if the passport agency puts it in the mail and it arrives in Denton on Monday there is not enough time for the visas to get done in time. John and I are both extremely disappointed and want to reschedule for another time.

Saturday morning at around 9:45 I wrote the following email to the same person:
You are not going to believe this – John called 5 minutes ago and his passport showed up at his house this morning. I am going to send them via fedex to gotorussia and we should be on our way Thursday!!
Still, Resting in His Sovereignty,
